Third Suspect Now Arrested in Fatal Tempe Shooting

The investigation into a fatal shooting in Tempe has now led to three arrests with the apprehension of Willie Lee Moore, 19, in California this week, according to reports. The U.S. Marshal Service arrested Moore in Oakland after he was identified as one of the shooters in the murder of Errun Scroggins, 21, on November 28 at the CVS on Mill Avenue and University Drive. Moore is currently awaiting extradition to Arizona to face charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy, discharge of a firearm and other charges. Dean Blissett, 19, and Robreana White, 18, had already been arrested in Alamogordo, New Mexico in connection with the shooting.

Serious Crimes Carry Serious Penalties

Arizona recognizes two basic categories of crimes: misdemeanors and felonies. Misdemeanors are usually considered minor crimes while felonies are considered serious, but some very low-level felonies may have penalties similar to high-level misdemeanors. However, serious felonies must be considered separately as they can have very serious penalties.

For first-degree murder, Arizona law allows those convicted to be sentenced to the death penalty, life without parole, or life with parole in 25 years, depending on the circumstances and the jury’s decision. Other serious felonies such as robbery, rape and aggravated assault, also carry stiff penalties, including years of jail time and thousands of dollars in potential fines. Even non-violent felonies such as burglary or drug sales can result in long jail sentences and hefty fines. In addition, you may have a permanent mark on your record with a felony conviction.
